Pierre Paulin, Paris, born 1927, studied sculpture at the Camondo school in Paris. 1954 first furniture designs for Thonet chairs, 1958 for Artifort. He created 1960-68 different famous chairs in new materials, the legendary mushroom, the tongue, the little tulip the ribbon chair, etc. produced by Artifort and Mobilier National, as well as a seating carpet. 1968 he created furnitures for the Louvre. In 1969 he got an award of american industrial design. In 1970 there followed seatings for the Expo 70 Osaka and in 1971 he designed the rooms for the Elysée Paris, also 1983, the president rooms and in the following years for President Mitterand and Giscard d´Estaing. Same year design exhibition in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA. 1987 he received the Grand Prize for Industrial creation. 1988 - 1992 exhibitions in Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.
